Situation
A new client was purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from their existing supplier in attempt to gain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The client engaged Satori Energy to review the current procurement process and make recommendations on process improvements.
Solution
After reviewing the contracts and details, Satori Energy recommended that the client conduct two Request for Proposal (RFP) processes to get the absolute lowest pricing on the electricity contract as well as on the RECs. Through scrupulous market monitoring, the result incorporated savings of $30,000 on the electricity contract and the RECs were obtained at a 50% reduction from the previous cost. The client enjoyed additional cost savings and was able to obtain LEED certification.
